Dr. Seuss said “you’re never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read to a child,” and he was right! To celebrate Read Across America Week, which kicked off on Dr. Seuss’ birthday, middle and high school students connected with elementary students by reading to them. It was a great way to strengthen the sense of community in our school!

Last week, the Culinary team hosted Justin Krezmer who ran a smoothie taste test. Students sampled “food court,” which is an orange cream flavor, and “grandma’s apple pie.” Both flavors of these healthy smoothies were delicious but “grandma’s apple pie” was the favorite!

Sebastian Carroll and Rayhan Sayeed had their submissions accepted to the Start Here invitational HS MS art exhibition held by the RIT College of Art and Design. Sebastian’s (grade 11) pencil on paper drawing is his own design, which he has been working on intermittently for two years. Rayhan (grade 10) taught himself to crochet during the COVID-19 lockdown and crafted the cardigan pictured here. The Start Here exhibition features just 200 pieces of student artwork selected by middle and high school teachers in New York state; the artwork was displayed at the Bevier Gallery on campus. Congratulations to Sebastian and Rayhan!
