UPDATE: Arkport Financial Position Slides
Community members are invited to attend
The Arkport Central School District will be holding three information sessions for the community to learn more about the district’s financial position. These events will provide Arkport families, staff, and residents with opportunities to ask questions, voice concerns and participate in an open and transparent discussion of district finances. We welcome participation; the board and district leaders will readily discuss factual information and answer questions that relate directly to the fiscal outlook but will not discuss matters involving personnel.
At each of these forums, the board of education and district leaders will provide an accurate explanation of the district’s finances for the last, current and coming fiscal years, factors that have had an impact and how this affects the budget. It is critical that all stakeholders have an accurate understanding of the school’s finances. We encourage an open discourse with community members; we value and appreciate the opportunity to answer questions and to clarify any misconceptions.
There are certain important and pertinent facts that will be highlighted, including:
- In the 2021-22 school year, the district overspent the budget; however, the district did not exhaust its savings (June 2022 Reserves: $3,471,344).
- The current year’s expenses are projected to come in under budget. The district is projecting a budget surplus for the end of the year.
- Increased costs and lower enrollment numbers are requiring the district to find savings and efficiencies for the 2023-24 school year.
